Summary: James Henderson, Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, will introduce Deb Tewksbury, Career and Technical Education Teacher, who will introduce Barry Glenn from Jobs for Virginia Graduates. Mr. Glenn will present a banner and plaque to the school board in recognition of the Charlottesville City Schools receiving the “Five of Five” award.

The Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) “Five of Five” award is the highest honor given to a state affiliate and recognizes the program for achieving all five of the national standards. JAG is the national affiliate of JVG.

JAG-National Standards in five high performance categories: 90% Graduation Rate, 60% Civilian Jobs/Military Rate, 80% Positive Outcome Rate, 80% Full-time Placement Rate, and 60% Full-time Jobs Rate. There is no standard for Further Education Rate.

JVG is incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization to help the state’s most disadvantaged and at-risk young people graduate from high school and make the transition from school to work. The program builds on the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) national model. A public-private sector Board of Directors aided by the Department of Education direct this initiative for Virginia’s young people.
